Bye Bye 2007 II

January 20, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Ok – we’re now more than two weeks into 2008 – but I can’t leave 2007 hanging as the second part was probably better than the first part! So, here it is – how 2007 ended for me :)

August:

- Said a fairly tearful goodbye to two of my favourite people in the world- Kara and Matt :( But wow, wat a summer with them!!

- Went on a crazy night out with the girls from Karen Millen – which ended up with all of us wandering around Dublin aimlessly as the over 21s wanted somewhere more sophisticated, and the under 21s wanted to shake their asses. Im kinda glad the under 21s won – I had a brill time shakin it with Yvette, Sarah and Paula. Oh yea, and Dave was surrounded by 9 stylish women..7 of whom were blonde! lol

- Had a crazy roommate nite out at The Wool Shed with my roomies, plus one Stephen Lawlor! Made lasagne for the occasion and got pissed off at Dave who said he’d be home for 7 n’ then arrived home hammered at 10 looking for his tea! ha

- Said goodbye to Taryn who moved out n’ back to Galway to start her new job :(

September:

-Moved back to DCU and met my four new roomies: Johnny, Fiona, Brendan and John :)

- Went to Yvette’s “Time Warp” 21st as an ancient Roman. Was one of the only people dressed up – but meh! I got my costume in like an hour in town! Thats an achievement!

- Hung out in Carlow alot! Gotta love those crazyyyyy Carlow heads :)

- Started my FINAL YEAR of my degree in DCU. EEK – scary stuff!

- Went to the 80’s Freshers Ball and had a blast! Brought Dave to experience some REAL college life haha

- Had a massive girly night over in the Sweatbox! Watched chick flicks and gossiped while drinking and eating rice krispies buns! Special thanks go to Lyndsay, Kitty and Johanna for having us all in their sitting room! <3

- Made my first of many visits to the P-GASM apartment (where Pauric, Gemma, Alan, Sean and Megan live)

October:

- Passed my drivers theory test – one step closer to being on the road! (however, I have yet to send it off and actually get a provisional license. Jeez I am the biggest procrastinator known to man!)

- Got elected as secretary to the Media Production Society committee – woot woot MPS!

- Began the amazing journey that was “Kids’ Patch” with my video production class! What a cool project!!

- Me and Lyndsay got cast as “Pepsi” and “Kola” in this years Panto – ALADDIN!! Funniest auditions EVER.

- Discovered alot and had a great time out in Barcode for Megan’s Birthday. Class night – apart from losing my jacket to the Barcode cloak room…and losing Declan but finding his jacket before heading home to drunkenly sing RENT in the P-Gasm kitchen. Alot of the nights to come will end in a similar way!

- Made a brief appearance at Al Keegans 21st where he had a submarine shaped cake and skittles shots. It was very impressive altogether!

- Went to the Rocky Horror Picture Show

- Looked so slutty on the night of the Rocky Horror Picture Show – got auctioned off for Saint Vincent de Paul for the sum of 250 EURO. I will not mention what I had to do for that figure….I think people have talked about it enough at this point!

- Went to a pretty disappointing Halloween Ball as Alice in Wonderland.

November (another busy one!) :

- WENT ON THE MOST AMAZING TRIP TO PARIS WITH ART SOC! 12 of us jetted off to Paris for a weekend and did all things sophisticated. I have been waiting to go to Paris probably all my life, and it certainly lived up to my expectations! We went to: The Lourve, The Musee de Orsay, The Eifle Tower, The Arc de Triomph, the Champs Elyseey, the Catacombes, Notredam, the Pompadoo (def not the right spelling…) centre, the Moulin Rouge and many more things! Stayed out til like six am on two of the nights and hung out French style dancing the night away and drinking cheap wine and expensive everything else! It was actually one of the most amazing trips Ive ever been on :) Alhonzee!

- Went to the Clubs and Societies Ball! This was the best night of my three years at DCU, definitely. It was also a huge improvement on last year’s Socs ball – where I didnt make it into the banquet hall at all due to drunkeness and a break-up ugh. But lets not dwell on that: this years was WAY BETTER. I danced the night away with everyone I loved – who all looked so beautiful and amazing! Also – I couldnt drink, cuz of antibiotics and spent the night hopping off the walls on red bull. A legendary night that I will always remember.

- Carolyn came to visit :)

- Sweatfest ‘07 – it was sweaty, it was messy, it was HILARIOUS. Don’t remember much of this night – although I know I had an awesome time. Spent alot of it in Kitty’s room doing cheers from Bring it On 3. Also, spent awhile in a bathroom with Kitty having a great heart to heart. There was some time spent looking for the rest of my bottle of wine – and then some more time giving out to Eoin who had stolen it. Security came and I hid in a bed….on my own, I swear. ha. Brill night.

- Went to a Protectors of Mexico gig and then onto Wax. Another fairly drunken night – but a good one. One phrase that summed up Wax was “I hate this music, but I cant stop dancing”. Too right. A night ending in a massive gorge in Charlies: perfection.

- Had “Thanksgiving” dinner with the parentals and Carolyn in Eddie Rockets. Classy bunch, those Doyles.

- Hosted “Stars in Their Eyes” – my first presenting gig with DCU Drama. Loved every minute of it – couldn’t believe the quality of the acts!

- Proceeded to revel in my good evening by getting hammered in my Clubs and Socs ball dress….went back to the P-Gasm and was “on another level of drunkeness than everyone else”. Did a table dance and ppl saw my knickers. Ran around alot and fell on the floor. Another classy night lol

- Went to Jenni’s 21st which was a Back to the Future theme! So impressive :) Delorean shaped CAKE.

December:

- First big event of December was of course, the panto! Aladdin went out a storm and Lyn and I got to dress up like fat police officers and wear mexican bandit mustaches! One of the funnest shows Ive ever done – but also one of the most frustrating throughout rehearsals. Either way – it went down a storm! and I made some great new friends along the way :)

- Performed a modern version of “A Christmas Carol” for my Cultural Performance and Popular Entertainment module. Had alot of fun and laughed non-stop throughout the entire thing. Seeing Flash as Tiny Tim was PRICELESS.

- Went to Captain Americas and Purty Kitchen for Alan McHales birthday! Funny night – especially since it was “Gay Night” when we got there. One of the most annoying things in the world: guys in the girls’ toilets. Just because you’re gay, doesnt mean you dont have a penis! Use your own loo! Glad Alan had a fun night – he seemed hilariously happy!

- Went out with my class on a Brilliant BRILLIANT night! We started the night in Laura Hally’s apt and ended up in Ria Ra with one of our lecturers (sorta) – it was filled with generic techno music, serious discussions in the smoking area, and drunken walk-offs :) Unforgettable!

- Had a lovely, quiet Christmas in my cousins house, where I gorged myself on cake and watched Grey’s Anatomy 9 times in a row!!

- Stephen’s night was out in the Orphan Girl. I waited bloody 40 minutes in the freezing cold to get in and then it was 15 Euro! It was like a class reunion tho, and I got to see people I hadnt seen in months!

- New Years Eve was spent in the Grimes’ house watching Take That do the countdown haha. Sang karaoke and wore out my voice before getting a lift home at 3:30 am to my nice cozy bed!

…well that’s it in a nutshell!

Here’s to a continually good 2008 :)
